A few weeks back, I focused on exploring five common communication styles. Without knowing the different types of communication techniques, working with a diverse group of people becomes impossible. And to be honest, without cognitive diversity, there is no ingenuity. Some of my favorite sayings in this arena are “A hammer only sees nails,” and “A surgeon always believes that an operation can fix a problem.” We discussed assertive, aggressive, passive, passive-aggressive, and manipulative communication styles. Understanding your communication style is key to improving your interactions and relationships with others. But that is just the start. It’s not just the manner in which you communicate, the ways and means also makes a big impact.
