Being in the moment
It matters to those who matter most
I have written about this before…but I failed this past weekend. I don’t enjoy watching TV. I feel its a complete waste of time. But, the family enjoys watching a series called “Alone” together. And we really engage with one another during each episode pausing at critical moments to discuss what we would do in that situation or better burpees on who we think will quit next. On Sunday nights, we watch one episode. But I was traveling Thursday, sat at the shop with my car all day on Friday, shot in a competition on Saturday, then Sunday was packed with church and sports activities. I needed to catch up on emails and no one was watching me….that is, until my son wanted to share a moment and I was nowhere to be found….mentally. I was sitting next to him, but my mind had wondered off to work issues.
I felt bad, really bad. There was nothing to do except apologize and move forward. I put my phone on the charger and tried to make up for my error. It stung. I know it will happen again, but I need to be better because being present matters.
