Leadership Modes (3/5)
The Leadership Mode That Wins… Until It Breaks Everything
There is a version of leadership that produces immediate, undeniable results. Deadlines get met, standards are enforced, and performance gaps close quickly. Expectations are clear, accountability is sharp, and there is very little ambiguity about what “right” looks like.
This is what leadership theory often refers to as active–negative leadership. This mode is defined by high control, high standards, relentless pressure, and low tolerance for mistakes. It is not soft, and it is not designed to be. In the right circumstances, it is incredibly effective.
The problem is not that this leadership style exists. The problem is how easily it becomes a default.
